staff operating from 4 sites, we are committed to the long-term sustainability
of the NZ pig industry, through innovative processing and products that provide
fresh, high-quality food products to New Zealanders, their families and their
animals.
Our Timaru production facility is New Zealand’s largest pork specialist
abattoir and butchery operation. Our dedicated team of over 65 staff process
around 4,000 pigs per week.
We are looking for a Maintenance Engineer with a creative and methodical approach to keep the plant operational around business requirements.
The key function of this role is to manage mechanical and functional maintenance to ensure smooth operation for our team, maximising efficiency and safety and minimising downtime.
To be successful in this role you will:
- Manage preventative, planned, reactive maintenance, fault diagnosis and break down/time critical repairs of plant and equipment, utilities, infrastructure and engineering systems.
- Have a background in mechanical engineering, preferably in a meat processing environment.
- Work on and with a variety of equipment and systems e.g. refrigeration, boiler/steam, water (supply, hot water, water treatment, wastewater and effluent), electrical/power systems, HVAC and ventilation.
- Use your fabrication and various welding skills to create solutions.
- Progress automation and updating of the plant.
- Need to be available for call outs and breakdown repairs.
- Be flexible to respond to production requirements.
A forklift license will be advantageous, but we’re happy to train the successful candidate.
The role is Monday to Friday, with some weekend work required for planned maintenance/improvements or call out for breakdown repairs.
